You can open the settings dialog by clicking the Settings button on the main screen. The settings dialog consists of two main sections: App settings and About the app.

App settings

The App settings section contains the following options:

  • A group of radio buttons for the transcript font size,
  • A switch for automatic scrolling,
  • A switch for the transcription behaviour when the main screen loses focus,
  • A switch to enable generation of speaker labels and, optionally,
  • A button to download the model for speaker recognition.

Transcript font size

Default: Medium

The radio buttons for the transcript font size allow you to quickly make the font used in the transcript text area larger or smaller, depending on your needs. That way you don't have to change your font size preferences in the Android settings every time you need a larger or smaller font size for the transcript. The available font size options are small, medium, large and largest.

Automatic scrolling

Default: On

When the amount of text exceeds the available space in the transcript text area, the app automatically scrolls down so that the last line of the transcript is always visible. If you prefer scrolling manually you can switch this setting off.

Keep transcribing when the main screen loses focus

Default: Off

When the main screen loses focus---for instance because you left the app or opened the settings dialog---Voskle Live Transcribe stops the transcription by default. Turn this setting on if you'd prefer it to keep transcribing.

Speaker recognition

Default: Off

Voskle Live Transcribe can attempt to recognize different voices and automatically generate labels for them. If this option is enabled, the app will try to determine whether the person speaking has changed and number the different recognized speakers sequentially. The app will add the label before the text that person said. If what the person said was too short to generate a speaker label, the label "Unknown" gets added. Labels will only get added whenever the person speaking changes.

This option is disabled by default. To enable it, you first need to download the speaker recognition model. To do so, tap the download button underneath the speaker recognition switch. Once the download is complete, the download button disappears and the switch becomes toggleable.

About the app

The About the app section contains a link to this documentation and a button to contact us. When you click that button, an email draft gets opened in your prefered email app which already contains various information about the app, your device and operating system. There's also another button to view the open source licenses of the libraries the app uses.
